The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has been urged to direct the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to quickly fix the deplorable state of the Adeje Section of the Benin-Warri axis of the East-West Road in Okpe Local Gvernment Area of Delta State.

The member Representing Okpe, Uvwie and Sapele Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Efe Afe, made the appeal on Monday in a statement made available to WARRI TODAYafter visiting the road at the weekend.

Afe, who represent the area, noted that the failed stretch of the Adeje section has become a nightmare to the people of his constituents and road users plying the highway to other parts of the country.

He posited that an oil-bearing state like Delta does not deserved such a deplorable road especially as it connect the South-South region to other regions of the country.

According to him, “Patching the failed portion of the Warri-Sapele-Benin Expressway would not help matters as heavy trucks loaded with Diesel, fuel and other petroleum products regularly passes through the busy road.”

“What the Federal government needs to do on that road was an overhauling and reconstruction to address the concerns of my constituents and other road users who ply the road to other parts of the country. This road is too important to be left in this state.”
