Panic In Delta Community As Fleeing Vehicle Dumps Corpse Of Unknown Man

There is panic at Owhase community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State when a fleeing vehicle reportedly dumped a corpse of an unidentified young man and another battling for life in the community.

The incident happened along the Owhase road by Boro Street’s Transformer off the popular Udu Road linking Enerhen and Warri areas of the state on Saturday morning.

NIGER DELTA TODAY Online gathered that the two unidentified men were tied with ropes by their attackers who zoomed off immediately pushing them down from the vehicle.

Residents told our correspondent that one of the victims had already died as at the time he was dropped at the spot around 9:55am on Saturday.

The other victim believed to be in his late 20s was still alive but looks fatigue, a source in the area told this reporter.

None of the residents in the area could identify the victims. The surviving victim could not explained speak on what happened.

The incident, it was learnt, sparked fears among residents of the area as those living around the area vacated their homes for fear of being arrested and questioned by security agencies on the development.

As of the time our correspondent got to the scene of the incident, the corpse and other surviving victim were still lying on the ground with no ready to come to them.

The vehicle that dumped the victims was said to carrying three male occupants.

“A vehicle drove here this morning (9:55am) and immediately dropped these young men here. One of them is already dead. No one has idea where they brought them from but they were seen going towards Enerhen Junction after dumping them”, a resident at the spot of the incident said.

The surviving victim was, however, later rushed to an unknown hospital in the locality after some residents in the area intervened.

The corpse of the deceased was covered with cloths while residents of the area reported the matter to Ovwian/Aladja Police Station.

The corpse had not been evacuated as of the time our correspondent finally left the scene.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said she had not been briefed of the incident.

Onovwakpoyeya, who promised to verify the authenticity of the incident and get back to our correspondent, has not called back as of the time of filing this report.
