Rivers State has recorded its first case of the novel Coronavirus pandemic, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said.
NCDC confirmed that six new cases of the epidemic were recorded on Wednesday including the Rivers case bringing total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 51.
It disclosed this via its verified Twitter handle late Wednesday evening.
NCDC said of the six cases, Lagos and Abuja had two each while Osun and Rivers States recorded one each.
Rivers is the second state in the South-South region to have contracted the dreaded disease after Edo State.
“On the 25th of March, 2020, six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria.
“Of the new six cases reported on March 25, two are in Lagos State, one is in Osun State, one in Rivers State, and two are in the Federal Capital Territory.
“All the new cases have mild to moderate symptoms and are currently receiving care.
“Three are returning travellers into Nigeria and two are close contacts of a confirmed case. As of 11:25 pm on 25th of March, there are 51 confirmed cases – two discharged and one death”, the tweet said.
