Delta APC Members Who Failed To Deliver Units In 2019 Shouldn’t Get Appointments – Alex Eyengho

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Warri Federal Constituency into the House of Representatives Comrade Alex Eyengho, has asked the leadership of the party and the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to stop rewarding members of the party who failed to deliver their units and wards for the APC in the 2019 general elections in Delta State.

Eyengho posited that appointing members where the party performed abysmally in the 2019 general election in Delta State amount to ‘rewarding failures.’

He stated this on Monday in a statement he made available to NIGER DELTA TODAY Online.

Eyengho, an award-winning film maker, observed that many of the party faithful who are now jostling for political appointments from the federal government are those who could not deliver their units or awards in any of the elections held in the state.

According to him, “My position on this matter may seem extreme but I dare say that ANYBODY seeking Federal Government appointment but failed to deliver his/her unit for the President, Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates during the February 2019 general elections, should be turned down outright.

“This includes candidates themselves, party leaders and other party members who failed to deliver their units during the February and March 2019 Presidential and Gubernatorial elections respectively. After all, the party’s slogan was (and still is) “operation deliver your unit.”

“The records are in the public domain and as such, the leadership of the party at the national level must scan through these records with trained precision when considering ANYBODY for appointment. Enough of ‘monkey dey work, baboon dey chop’.”

The APC Rep candidate also berated the state leadership of the party for failing to convene a ‘postmortem’ meeting on why the party performed poorly during the last election in the state.

“Also, I think it is a manifest failure on the part of the party executives at the Delta State level that since after the general elections in February and March 2019 till date, not a single meeting has been convened strictly for the purpose of carrying out a postmortem of how and why we lost in Delta State.

“But for the Senatorial and House of Representatives seats we won in the Delta Central Senatorial district through the never-say-die stand and unalloyed party loyalty of Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege during and after the elections, we would have still been singing a dirge for Delta State APC today! Elections is all about winning and losing.

“Elections are won and lost at the units. Party leaders, candidates and members who failed to deliver their units during the 2019 general elections should not be considered for any appointment whatsoever. We have to stop rewarding failures, going forward”, Eyengho added.
