Tension was again rife at communities of Uwheru Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State when six additional corpses of victims of suspected Fulani herdsmen attacks were exhumed from the shallow graves where their killers had reportedly buried them.
NIGER DELTA TODAY Online earlier reported that about three corpses were exhumed on Sunday evening after security agencies demanded to see the bodies of those the community alleged to have been slaughtered in the renewed attacks in over five Uwheru communities between Thursday and Friday.
It was gathered a team of security personnel and members of the community discovered the shallow grave on Monday while searching for the bodies of victims allegedly killed by the arms-wielding herdsmen operating in the area.

The corpses were brought to the Police Area Command Ughelli in three Diana Open Pick-Ups at about 7:30pm on Monday for records before being taken to the Ughelli Central Hospital’s morgue awaiting autopsy.
This brought the number of corpses to have been exhumed so far to nine.
The Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Patrick Muoboghare, who hails from the area, confirmed the development to our correspondent on Monday night.
According to him, “Six corpses exhumed today under supervision of soldiers and policemen. The six bodies are now being deposited at the mortuary at Ughelli. Gory pictures will follow later.

“Total number so far is nine while the tenth is battling for his life in the hospital. Two more bodies are yet to be found. The search continues tomorrow (Tuesday).”
He told NIGER DELTA TODAY Online further that two more bodies were still not accounted for.
The Delta State Police Command is yet to react to the new development after earlier denying that no corpse had been found.
