Supreme Court Affirms Okowa’s Election, Dismisses Ogboru’s Petition

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Chief Great Ogboru

The Supreme Court on Wednesday affirmed the election of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections.

The appeal filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Great Ogboru was anonymously dismissed.

In a judgement delivered by Justice Centus Nweze, the court held that the appellant, Ogboru failed to prove allegations of over-voting.

He said that the appeal is a waste of the precious time of the Apex Court.

Meanwhile, jubilation has greeted the judgement of the Supreme Court at the Government House, Asaba.

It was gathered that Governor Okowa and other top government functionaries will be heading for a thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel by 4pm today Wednesday.
