The member representing Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Efe Afe, said he would continue to support genuine course that would improve the general wellbeing of the people of his constituency.
Afe stated this on Wednesday at Orerokpe, traditional headquarters of Okpe Kingdom in the Okpe Local Government Area of Delta state during the flag-off of a free medical outreach he sponsored for the people of the constituency.
He noted that the outreach was initiated for members of his constituency to bring succour to people of the area who were battling with different health challenges.
According to him, the initiative was to compliment the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration’s efforts towards bringing healthcare to the grassroots.
The federal lawmaker noted that the gesture was part of measures to uplift the living standard of his constituents particularly the elderly
The outreach which he said was in collaboration with the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) America will treat various health challenges confronting the people of the area.
The lawmaker said with election litigation over, he was now well positioned, to attract more infrastructural developmental projects and dividend of democracy to his constituents through quality representation.
He added that the executive of the UPU America has been helping to improve the health status of the Urhobos in Delta state.
“The members of UPU America are concern about the well being of their brothers and sisters here in Nigeria and during the last meeting at America I pledged to facilitate their coming to Okpe kingdom to assist in giving free health care services to the people of my constituency “, he stated.
In their separate remarks, the President and Vice President of UPU America, Dr Onome Dema and the Mr Paul Awusa respectively lauded the federal lawmaker for contributing to the development of the union as well as championing the free health care services.
“Hon Afe has always been there for us any time we call on him to support UPU America programmes that is why we are here to support his free health care service to members of his constituency”, Dr Dema stated.
They noted that Hon Afe has always support the course of the Urhobo people in Nigeria and Diaspora.
Beneficiaries of the free health medical services commended Hon. Afe for initiating the gesture and pray God to continue to bless him.
The beneficiaries were treated various forms of eye problems including glaucoma, blood level, Sugar level, provision of eyeglasses amongst others.
