With the collapse of the bridge, those living and doing businesses in the area, now drive long distances to use alternative routes to their homes.
When NIGER DELTA TODAY visited the area on Friday, motorists were seen reversing and looking for alternative route after getting to the failed bridge.
Meanwhile, residents of the area have lamented the development, urging the Delta State Government and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to reconstruct the bridge.
A resident who simply identified himself as Efe said the bridge caved after the dredging of the canals in the area by NDDC.
Efe said the bridge started showing signs of collapse when the contractor handling the dredging of the canals ahead of the raining season mobilized to site.
He added that residents of the area woke up to see that the bridge had collapsed recently when the NDDC contractor had completed the dredging.

He, however, added that the victim was rescued alive by residents.
“We are begging the Delta State Government and NDDC to come to our rescue and re-build this bridge for us. We are suffering as a result of this disaster.
“This place has become a safe-haven for “bad boys”, they now steal peoples phones and bags in this place as a result of this. Please the government should help us and do something about the bridge”, he added.
