A political pressure group in Delta State, Delta Force United (DFU), has written an open letter to the Minister of State for Labour, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, over his recent elevation as minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The group urged Keyamo to consider members of the group who have been canvassing for his political ideology since 2012 when the minister first indicated interest to contest for the governorship seat in his home state of Delta.
In the ‘open letter’ signed by one of the group members and staunched supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Samuel Meyiwa khalil, the group appealed to Keyamo not to abandon members of the group who have been labouring to promote his political ideology in the last seven years.
A copy of the ‘open letter’ mailed to NIGER DELTA TODAY, the group claimed that its members travelled the nooks and crannies of the state to garner support for the now minister when he was contested the mucky waters of politics in Delta.
They, however, lamented that upon Keyamo’s elevation and appointment as a minister by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Delta-born lawyer has abandoned members of the group for “unknown Abuja boys.”

Recounting how Delta Force United (DFU) was formed, Khalil, also a social media influencer said, “When our dear senior bros, Festus Keyamo, SAN, first came in 2012-2013 that he wanted to contest to be Governor, his brother Endurance Keyamo who has been my long time friend approached me and we formed a formidable team with Osiwe Otega, Sunday Oruerakpo Agboro, Aghogho Abraham Orotomah and Omonade Matthew.
“It was a killer squad; we transversed the four walls of delta State, singing the song of ” Na Our hand it dey” a slogan we got from our pressure group, Delta Forces United (DFU).”
The group condemned the appointment of “Abuja boys” as his aides rather picking some of them who stood solidly with him during his formative years in the polictics of Delta and vigorously sold his ideas to the people of the state.

“Fast forward 2012 to 2019; our dear leader as he then was is now a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, one would have thought that, he would look at his foot soldiers that stood beside him when he was relatively unknown in the political arena of Delta State, and make some his aides or fix some of them in juicy offices, Alas!
“That is not the case, our leader has abandoned this ship and pitch tent with relatively unknown Abuja boys who didn’t know where he came from. Bros, the ‘slot’ you currently occupy is Delta State ‘slot’ and it belongs to us Deltans.
“If you can’t use it to affect Deltans positively, it will be a great disservice to us. Sorry, i am writing this here, I should have called you, but since you became a Minister, you no longer take calls hence I had to use this medium”, the letter further read.
