Mr Chike Onyemenam, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who was kidnapped a week ago along the Benin/Asaba Highway has been freed by his abductors after paying N7.5 million ransom.

Onyemenam was abducted on Monday September 16, 2019  at Utulu junction along Benin- Asaba expressway Issele-Azagba near the Delta State capital was released on Saturday.

Family sources who had earlier confirmed his abduction confirmed on Monday that the SAN was released after the family paid N7.5 to secure his release.

The gunmen had earlier demanded N15 million. The ransom was reduced after the family pleaded with the senior lawyer’s captors.

 “The SAN was released around Ubulu-Uku axis after the family pleaded for his release. They abductors finally reduce their ransom from N15 million N7.5 million which was paid before he was released.

“We thank God he was not hot, as I speak to you now he is fine” the family source hinted on Monday.

However, the State Police Command which claimed it was not aware of the kidnap also had not confirmed the released of the lawyer.
