The Minister of State, Niger-Delta Affairs, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN) has reacted to the attack of Mr Elvis Omoiri, an All Progressives Congress (APC) supporter in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Mr Omoiri was attacked by a supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Best Uduophori for celebrating the Wednesday’s Presidential Election Tribunal judgement affirming the election victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23, 2019 election.

The victim was attacked around the Okoloba axis of the city on Thursday evening when a disagreement ensued between Omoiri and his attacker, Uduophori, who reportedly stabbed him on the head, neck and other parts of his body.

Omoiri, who is now receiving treatment in a hospital in the city, had reported lost huge pants of blood to the ugly incident.

Effurun, Uvwie LGA of Delta State, is the hometown of the minister. Mr Keyamo is also a traditional title holder in the area.

 But Keyamo while reacting to WARRI TODAY’s report on Saturday, hinted that he has established contact with the victim and that he would foot the medical bills.

The minister, in a tweet WARRI TODAY on his verified Twitter handle, said the culprit will be arrested and prosecuted.

Keyamo in the tweet said, “I have already taken up this matter. I sent one of my SA’s to the hospital and asked them to send me all the medical bills.

“I also spoke with the victim & assured him of justice. I then contacted the DCO of Ekpan Police Station to ensure the culprit is arrested and brought to book.”

However, the Delta State Police Command is yet to confirm the incident as at on Saturday.

The command through the commissioner of police in the state, Mr Adeyinka Adeleke, had denied the incident on Friday when contacted.
