The ancient city of Sapele in Delta State is again on the news for the wrong reasons as a lady in her early twenties has been reported have stolen and disappeared with a box containing gold jewelries and other valuables from her uncle’s wife.
It was gathered that the box of gold and other valuables allegedly stolen by the lady identified as Sonia Akpeki are worth N12 million.
Sonia, who also goes by the name “So Nia”, had reportedly absconded with her boyfriend to Ghana.

Sapele, one of the most renowned urban towns in Delta State, has consistently been on the news for the wrong reasons including recent ritual killings, internet frauds and kidnappings.
It was gathered that Sonia who school at the Delta State University, Abraka, broke into her uncle’s room, Ogbimi Benjamin, where she reportedly stole the items belonging to the uncle’s wife.
According to Sapele Oghenek, a Facebook news monitoring platform in Sapele, a while confirming the development, said a N300, 000 has been placed as bounty for anyone with useful information about the whereabouts of the fleeing lady.
WARRI TODAY, however, learnt that the suspected had reportedly fled the country to Ghana with her boyfriend.

It was gathered that the phone number of the Sonia had been switched off since the incident.
It was not clear if there is a disagreement with between Sonia and her uncle’s wife who deals on cosmetics along Boyo Road in Sapele.
But a family source said there was no disagreement until the incident, adding that efforts to arrest the suspect were on.
“Sonia is a ‘thief.’ She broke into our uncle’s room and stole a box of gold and other valuables including expensive clothes, and then disappeared. Nobody knows where she has gone but some persons are saying she is in Ghana with her boyfriend, others are saying she is hiding in Benin.

“What she did is barbaric especially for a family that has been training her in school. This is not the first time she will be stealing from our uncle. This one is just too much. She must produce the items she stole.
“Our uncle’s wife is a very good person and she has been supporting her school financially aside the money our uncle gives to her. She was not being maltreated at all. The woman treats her as her own daughter”, our source who preferred anonymous said.
Efforts by our correspondent to speak to Mr Benjamin on the incident proved abortive.
However, the State Police Commissioner, Adeyinka Adeleke, told WARRI TODAY though they were aware of the incident, the matter had not been reported to the police as at the time he was contacted on Friday.
