Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarret Tenebe, has called for the arrest of some leaders of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and supporters alleged to be behind series of kidnapping in the state.

Tenebe specifically called on the state commissioner of police and heads of other security agencies to urgently pick those linked with kidnap cases in some parts of the state.

The APC chairman made the demand while addressing journalists in Benin city, urging security agencies not to look away in identified criminal activities in the state.

He stated that those responsible for the kidnappings are also linked to individuals, who allegedly killed a policeman during the governorship campaigns in the state in 2024.

“I am calling on the Commissioner of Police in the State, heads of other security agencies and stakeholders, to immediately arrest these leaders of the PDP. We have on good authority that they are behind recent cases of kidnappings”, he added.

Tenebe alleged further that, since leaving office, in a bid to make money, some PDP leaders have resorted to kidnapping, while also vowing to make the state ungovernable under Governor Monday Okpebholo.

“An investigation by security agencies will confirm my claims. All the arms they purchased during the last elections are there and they are using them to make the state ungovernable for Governor Okpebholo.

“As a party, we will not fold our hands and watch an irresponsible party destroy the state. We will support the security agencies in fishing out these criminals and ensure that Edo state is safe for everyone”, he stated.
