Delta Church Distributes Food Items To Vulnerable Persons, Widows In Asaba

Champions for Christ Chapel in Asaba, Delta State, has donated Rice, Bread, Garri, Cash and other food stuffs worth millions of naira to a 90 year -old woman, single mothers, and other vulnerable grappling with hunger.

The 90 years Roseline Aniojo, Rosemary Patrick, a single mother, and others were over excited, dancing and singing songs of praises upon receiving the food stuffs.

Addressing Journalists in Asaba shortly after the donations, the Church general overseer, Samuel Akpan -Isong said his actions in donating the food items to about 60 members and non members of the Church, was to raise the bar and hope of the hopeless to upscale their livelihoods.

He said he rolled out the drums of the food stuffs to stop the vulnerable from crying and dying, occasioned by the current economy hardship which is bitting almost everybody in Nigeria today.

“There is hunger in the land today. And I looked at the Church members, and the surrounding neighbourhood that they are not excepted because most of them are not well to do, and therefore need the support of others to survive.

“What I have done is just to make sure people are happy. So, my actions are not being politically motivated, because I’m not looking for political office, neither looking for rewards from anyone”, he sounded.

According to him, Jesus Christ had shown compassion, fed the people, particularly the poor and with the present economy challenges, people need support to stop their cries.

The cleric therefore appealed to people in governments, spirited individuals and the rich in the society not to lock their gates against the poor, but “to replicate what I have done in a bigger way to cushion the effects of the calamity we have found ourselves”.

He further tasked the political class to give, no matter how small, to the people around them, saying “when people are happy, you are happy too but when they are not happy, you share their pains”.

Responding, Rosemary Patrick, a single mother, who was overwhelmed with joy, said I’m happy the Pastor’s food gesture will go long way to cushion the hunger bitting us as a family.
