The Commissioner for Special Duties in Akwa Ibom State, Dr Bassey Okon, has been relieved of his duties as member of the State Executive Council with immediate effect.
Akwa Ibom Governor, Umo Eno, ordered the sack of the commissioner in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Enobong Uwah, on Monday.
Uwah, however, did not state the reason the governor terminated the appointment of commissioner.
While appreciating the commissioner for the period he served in the state, the governor wished him well in his future endeavours
He ordered the commissioner to hand over all property of government in his position to the Permanent Secretary in the ministry and directed the Secretary to the State Government to oversee the affairs of the ministry pending the appointment of a new commissioner.
“In an ongoing effort to reposition this administration in line with the ARISE Agenda, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Umo Eno, has relieved Dr Bassey Okon, Commissioner for Special Duties as Commissioner in the Akwa Ibom Executive Council with immediate effect,” the statement read.
