The Delta State Government has announced the removal and redeployment of Mrs. Gloria Igumbor as the State Director of Nursing Service in the Ministry of Health.
Mrs Igumbor, whose tenure as Director of Nursing was enmeshed in controversies and allegations of corruption, has now been redeployed to the State Agency for the Control of Aids.
The “deployment” notice signed by G. J. Obiaigwe for the Delta Commissioner for Health was dated Friday March 8, 2023.
“I am directed to announce the following deployments which take immediate effect: i. Mrs. Gloria Igumbor Asst. Director: From the Ministry of Health to the State Agency for the Control of Aids.
“ii. Mrs. Mercy U. Atikpo Deputy Director: From the College of Nursing, Sapele to the Ministry of Health as Functioning Director (Nursing Dept.)
“iii. Mrs Gloria Bassey Enobong Deputy Director: From the College of Nursing, Agbor to the College of Nursing, Eku as functioning Provost.
“iv. Mrs. Rita Evbhodaghe (Asst. Director): From the College of Nursing, Eku to the College of Nursing, Agbor as functioning Provost”, the notice of deployment read.
Only last year, hundreds of final year students drawn from the State College of Nursing and Delta State University Abraka protested their exclusion from Nursing and Midwifery Council Examinations over irregularity from the office of Mrs Igumbor.
Mrs. Igumbor was also in the past accused of admission racketeering, extortion and using her office to harass and intimidate nurses in the state.
