Shettima, Jonathan, Obasanjo, Others Present As Diri, Ewhrudjakpo Sworn-In 2nd Term

There was jubilation on the streets of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, as incumbent Governor Douye Diri and his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, were on Wednesday sworn-in for a second term in office.

The oaths of office were administered on them by the state Chief Judge, Justice Matilda Ayemieye at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu; two former Nigerian Presidents, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

Also in attendance were the Vice President of Liberia, Jeremiah Koung and Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Mohammed Bago (Niger), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), AbdulRahman AbdulRazak (Kwara), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa).

Others included Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Hyacinth Alia (Benue) and Uba Sani (Kaduna). top politicians across the country including federal and state lawmakers.

Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled a total of 175,196 votes to defeat his main rival, Timipre Sylva, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last governorship election in Bayelsa.
