President Bola Tinubu has been commended for appointing and inaugurating a new board for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to drive his administration’s development efforts in the oil-rich Niger Delta region.
A former chairman of Udu Local Government Council of Delta State, Chief Solomon Kpomah, gave the commendation, while congratulating the new NDDC board headed by Mr. Chiedu Ebie Esq for their inauguration on Thursday.
The Ebie-led board was inaugurated by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Hon. Abubakar Momoh, on the instruction of President Tinubu with a charge to turnaround the socio-economic fortune of the oil-rich region.
In a statement on Friday, Kpomah, who is currently the chairman of the Warri branch of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) said Ebie has the capacity to lead President Tinubu’s development drive in the region.
According to him, Ebie, a former Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), would bring to bear his worth of experience as a technocrat by working closely with the Managing Director and other appointees of the commission.
He also congratulated the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya, who was inaugurated as the commissioner representing Delta State on the new board.
“I heartily congratulate the members of the board of NDDC especially the chairman Mr Chiedu Ebie and the Delta State representative, Rt Hon Monday Igbuya on the their inauguration after clearance by the senate.
“President Tinubu, I appreciate you most sincerely for putting together a competent team to address the needs of the Niger Delta region.
“In my view this is the most capable board ever since the establishment of NDDC. I therefore call on member states of NDDC to give the board maximum support for optimum result”, Kpomah stated.
