The new Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Mr Adeleke Adeyinka says the state police command is prepared and ready for a credible, free and fair election in tomorrow’s Presidential/National Assembly elections in the state.

Adeyinka said the command would provide adequate security before, during and after the election to the satisfaction of both local and international observers during the polls.

In a statement signed by the State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chuks Orisewezie on Friday, noted that policemen with INEC accreditation tags have been deployed to all the units where voting would be taking place on Saturday.

The CP, in the statement, “enjoins all electorates and INEC officials to go about their civic responsibilities without any fear of intimidation, harassment or embarrassment as trained security personnel with INEC/Agency identification tags have been deployed to all the polling units, collating centres, INEC Offices/flash points and other strategic location in the state.

“The Commissioner reminds all that the restriction on vehicular movement except for persons on essential duties will be strictly enforced as the Police will not hesitate to deal decisively with violators.

“He further reminds that VIPs are not permitted to go to polling units with their security aides to cast their votes. Violators will face the full wrath of the law.”

Adeyinka assured that the command would continue to provide a level playing field for all stakeholders in the elections.

“The CP advises members of the public to be law abiding while assuring them that the Police in collaboration with other Security Agencies has the capacity and capability of dealing decisively with any untoward issues and criminality”, the Delta CP added.
