The candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Benedict Etanabene, has been declared winner of the Saturday’s National Assembly elections for Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency in Delta State.
This is the second Green Chamber’s seat the party has been declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.
Etanabene, a lawyer and former staff of the Petroleum Training Institute Effurun, defeated a former two term member of the House of Representatives and candidate of the PDP, Hon. Evelyn Oboro and APC candidate, Mr. Henry Baro, to emerge victorious.
According to the results announced by INEC on Monday night, Labour Party polled 37,107 of the total votes cast during the election.
The candidate of the PDP, Oboro, who came second, scored 29,917 votes, while the APC candidate, Baro, had 22,388 votes to come third.
It will be the first opposition party in the state will be winning the House Representatives seat for Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency.
Labour Party had earlier won the Aniocha/Oshimili federal Constituency seat after defeating the candidate of the PDP and Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, in Saturday’s polls.
An elated Etanabene commended the people of Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie for voting for the Labour Party and ensuring that he won the election.
