2023: Gbagi, Most Qualified Governorship Candidate In Delta — Ugbaja

Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi

Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, has been described as the best and most qualified to be the governor of the state come 2023, a member of Ubulu 82 Club, Mr. Peter Udeni Ugbaja, has said.

According to him, among all the governorship flag bearers, jostling for the governorship position, the former minister of State for education is the one best suited to liberate the state and deliver good dividends to Deltans.

Mr. Ugbaja stated this on Saturday December 17th 2022, during a meeting of the group with the SDP gubernatorial candidate at Ubulu-Uku, Aniocha south local government area of the state.

He said Gbagi, the former Chairman, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, remains an exceptional leader, with extraordinary commitment and sacrifice towards the well-being of Delta State and national stability.

While commending the biggest investor in the state, for his patience, he said “You will stoop to conquer in the forthcoming elections.

His words: “I want to thank you, Chief Gbagi. There is one thing that I have just observed in you and that trait is that of patience.

“I know the circumstances that surrounded this meeting, there was communication gap and all of that but in all, you were not perturbed.

“The same way you stood to wait for this gathering, the same way also you are going to stoop and conquer.

“From all you have said, I am begining to blink some hope and aspiration that if your aspiration actually comes to pass, we are going to have hope in this state”, he noted.

Speaking on one of the governorship candidates whose name he withheld, he said; “I interacted with one of the governorship candidates some years ago.

“We happen to have property in the same street. I spoke one-on-one with him. What he did was to pull off his cap and showed me some marks on his head.

“When I asked him, what are those marks? He said these are injuries he incurred in the course of thuggery and to that extent, I have paid my dues”.

He wondered the kind of leadership such a person would bring to bear, saying “haven paid his dues in that form, I believe that when he comes onboard, he will expect that other people will pay their dues by having cutlass cuttings.

“I want to thank you once again for the patience that you have so far exhibited and I ask that you continue with it.

“In this present dispensation, I thank God that the awareness is on. A time will come when you will see people vote individual and not party and that is what I am going to do and preach.

“Haven seen your pedigree, I cannot but agree to your submission”.

He disagreed with the promise of the governorship candidate whose name he did not disclosed to do more, saying; “It is not a question that you are going to do more.

“If you understand that word that you are going to do mory, it means the suffering, pains and our disagreements will be more.

“If you want to do something, you had better pencil it down and say this is what I want to do”, he said.

He expressed hope to have the SDP flag bearer, Olorogun Gbagi, back again for another round of a robust interactive session to cross fertilize ideas where there would be a fuller house of members and other stakeholders.

Also, the Chapter treasurer, Mr Leme Ojinji, corroborated Gbagi’s position on the suffering of pensioners and retirees across the state.

According to him, “all that you have said is true, I am a victim of some of the hardship of the federal and State governments especially the retirees.

“So, we have accepted the appeal that you have made. We will go back and look and take an appraisal and spread the gospel that we have a man that can change the narrative and that is Gbagi for governor”, he added.
