A former senator representing South-East Senatorial District of Rivers State at the National Assembly, Magnus Abe, has officially joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Abe, who recently resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is believed to be joining the party to contest the 2023 governorship election in Rivers.
According to a statement on Friday issued by his spokesman, Parry Benson, the former lawmaker revealed that he was joining the SDP to improve the nation’s internal democracy.
The statement read in parts: “Yes I am and I have been a member of the social Democratic Party SDP.
“I remain irrevocably committed to the ideals that have driven my politics through the years. And will continue to do all we can to improve internal democracy in the politics of our country and focus on the people”.
