Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday morning submitted the names of five presidential aspirants to President Muhammadu Buhari to pick one as consensus candidate.
Those whose names were submitted to the President as possible consensus candidate are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi, Governors David Umahi and Kayode Fayemi.
However, the President of the Senate, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, whose name was announced on Monday by the National Chairman of APC, Abdullahi Adamu, was not on the list.
No fewer than 23 presidential aspirants bought the party’s presidential and nomination forms.
The list was reached after governors of the party met with members of the APC National Working Committee.
Buhari, according to reports, is expected to pick a preferred candidate whom delegates of the party will vote for at the ongoing National Convention of the ruling party.
Recall that APC governors in the northern part of the country had insisted that South should produce the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.
