Midwest Bar Forum Elects Igbokwe, Soni Bobi, Others As New Executive Officers

The Midwest Bar Forum (MBF) has elected a former National Financial Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Chief George Chiedun Igbokwe (SAN) as its new chairman and Mr Soni Oghenegare Bobi as general secretary.

Igbokwe was declared winner at an election conducted recently at the Hearing Room of the Delta State House of Assembly, Asaba.

Also elected were Princess P.I Iyomoh (1st Vice Chairman), I.C.E Okugbo (2nd Vice chairman), Ivie Elema (Financial Secretary), Promise Ademi-Akpeto (Treasurer), and Mrs. Philomena Aghede Ehikwe (Welfare Secretary).

The election witnessed by serving and former scribes of the NBA had in attendance the current Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaiah Bozimo.

In his welcoming remark, the immediate past chairman of the forum, Chike Onyemenam (SAN), thanked members of the body for the support given to him and other executive members of the outgoing leadership of MBF during his tenure.

Onyemenam noted that his exco fought gallantly to restore peace among aggrieved members of the forum and called on members to sustain the prevailing unity in the association.

He pointed out that Midwest Bar Forum remains an indivisible group with the central goal of pushing for the common good of lawyers from both states.

He further urged members to support the new leadership.

Also in his inaugural address, the new chairman of the forum, Mr. Igbokwe (SAN), vowed to work with other elected officials of the body to strengthen the bond of unity among members of the forum.

Igbokwe, who however, promised to reconcile seemingly aggrieved members, assured to run an all-inclusive government and work for the growth of the forum.

He thanked members of the body for electing him as the new chairman of the body.

Meanwhile, the current 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association, John O. Aikpokpo-Martins administered the Oath Office on the new executives.

 MBF, an umbrella body for lawyers in Delta and Edo States, has its members drawn from the 14 Branches of the Nigerian Bar Association in both states.
