IGP’s Wife Visits Okowa, Ovie Of Uvwie, Olu Of Warri Others, Empowers Officers’ Wives

Wife of Inspector General of Police and some police officers wives empowered during her visit to Delta State Police Command

The wife of the Inspector-General of Police and National President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Hajia Hajara Usman, has empowered 150 wives of serving officers of the Delta State Police Command.

Also empowered, were widows of deceased police officers who died in line of duty within Delta Police Command.

The beneficiaries were empowered when the POWA’s National President led other executive members of the association on a three-day visit to the State Police Command in Asaba.

The IGP’s wife also paid courtesy visit to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta where she sorts the governor’s support for the welfare of POWA members and serving police officers in the state.

Mrs Usman and her delegation also visited some traditional rulers in Delta State including the chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council and Obi of Owa Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor; Ovie of Uvwie, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Sediso, Abe 1; Olu of warri, HRM Ogiame Atuwatsa 111 and Asagba of Asaba, Prof Chike Edozien.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, noted that the IGP’s Wife during her visit to the traditional rulers harped on the need for the traditional institutions in the country to support the police to succeed.

She stated that her three-point Agenda – Welfare, Health and Education – will pursue vigorously the welfare of members.

Usman had informed Governor Okowa of the association plans to organise a quiz for children of policemen across the federation where the winner will go home with N10 million prize.

While on the visit, she commissioned some projects including a borehole water project at the B Division barracks and a renovated classroom and E-Library, built by the Nigeria’s Rotary Club at Police Children Primary School, Asaba.

She concluded her visit with a road walk around Asaba metropolis and also held a health workshop with police officers’ wives and attended by senior police officers including the state police commissioner, Ari Muhammed Ali.
