Oghara Poly Rector Commended As Students Elect New SUG Leadership Through E-Voting

The national leadership of National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has commended the Rector of the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Prof. (Engr) Emmanuel Ogujor, over the introduction electronic voting in Friday’s Students’ Union Government (SUG) election.

It was gathered that the institution’s SUG Executives election usually greeted by rancor and crisis was generally peaceful as students of the polytechnic turned out en mass to vote for candidates of their choice.

The election saw Comrade Evans Mufo emerged as the new SUG President in the polytechnic ranked by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) as one of the best polytechnics in the country and best in Delta State.

The election which was monitored by security agencies, NAPS national leadership, community representatives and top management of the institution was adjudged as the freest and credible election to have been conducted in any Nigerian higher institution.

Reacting to the outcome of the election through a statement signed by NAPS National Vice President, Comr Blessing Adogbeji, commended the management of the polytechnic for the new initiative.

NAPS also congratulated the Mufo-led SUG Executives for their successful election and charged them to work with management of the polytechnic for the growth and development of the institution.

“Earlier today (Friday) the annex Secretariat of the National Association of Polytechnic Student (NAPS) ably led by Comr Blessing Adogbeji witnessed the Students’ Union Government (SUG) Election today has congratulated the newly executives led by Comr Mufo  Evans after a successful Election today been 23rd July 2021

“The NAPS Annex Secretariat delegate led by Comr Blessing commended on the Rector, Dean of Students Affairs and the entire management staffs of the Polytechnic for conducting a peaceful, free and credible election that was devoid of rancour and instability.

“The election was conducted via E-Voting Process and it’s also a great thing of joy being that it’s the first time the school is adopting a new system of E-voting election process.

“Therefore, leadership of NAPS Annex Secretariat charge the newly elected SUG executives to count it a privilege to serve Nigerian Students and ensure that student welfarism and issues relating to studentship should be their primary priority.

“He also commended the other aspirants that lost the election for their spirit of sportsmanship and doggedness in their quest to serve Nigerian Students and appeal to them to work together with newly elected executives in order to foster peace and unity in the student Community”, the statement read.
