Delta Polytechnic Denies Cult Killing, Shooting At Otefe-Oghara Campus

The management of the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, on Friday denied alleged killing and shooting within the polytechnic campus by suspected cultists.

It said the viral video on social media alleging that suspected cultist had stormed the polytechnic campus shooting sporadically has no iota of truth.

The statement released on Friday emphasised that polytechnic remains peaceful with academic activities currently running unhindered.

It added that the Rector of the institution, Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Ogujor (JP) and his management was working hard to ensure that polytechnic remained the most academically sound and environmentally peaceful in the country especially in Delta State.

“The attention of the Management of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara has been drawn to the bundle of lies been churn out by some unscrupulous persons on the Social Media purporting high spate of cult related killings in the Polytechnic in recent time.

“It is not the practice of Management to join issue with these agents of mischief who are hellbent in dragging the name of the Polytechnic to the mud. However, as a citadel of learning committed to the promotion of high academic excellence in a serene and secure environment, we are compelled to issue this Press Release to assure the esteem confidence of our students, staff, parents and visitors.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the purported images and video circulating on the social media does not represent the situation on ground as no such incidents happened in the Polytechnic.  Academic activities in the Polytechnic have been peaceful as students and staff goes about their normal business without any form of molestation and harassment.

“The public is enjoined to disregard information regarding the purported cult clash and killings in the Polytechnic. The Rector, Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Ogujor (JP) is not relenting in his avowed commitment to make Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara the most safe and secured Polytechnic in the State”, the statement read.
