PPA Set To Meet OYSIEC Over Oyo LGA Elections

The Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, SAN has officially invited the Oyo State Chairman of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Mr. Tolulope Adedoyin to an emergency meeting scheduled to take place tomorrow, Monday 19th of April, 2021 at the OYSIEC Secretariat, Ibadan.

It would be recalled that the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) through a letter dated 12th of April, 2021 addressed to the Chairman of OYSIEC, Mr.  Isiaka Olagunju indicated her interest to participate in the May 15 slated local government election.

The letter which was acknowledged by Awosu O.H, a staff of the electoral body was submitted with a 51-page court judgment delivered by Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem and four others on the August 13, 2020 which compelled and mandated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to relist the party as one of the registered political parties in the country.

In response to PPA’s Letter, Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju SAN, the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has invited the party to an emergency meeting aim at discussing the party’s possibility of participating in the forthcoming local government election in Oyo State.

According to PPA, the gesture by OYSIEC is a welcome development as it will enable the commission to organise free, fair, transparent and acceptable polls. OYSIEC’s action is indeed a right step in the right direction.

PPA finally assured the commission of its continuous support to ensure a free, fair and credible local government election in Oyo State.
