Several persons have been reportedly killed as explosion reportedly rocked a gas plant in Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The sources said the incident which occurred on Friday evening also left scores of persons severely burnt with several houses razed by the inferno resulting from the incident.
It was gathered that many vehicles plying the Benin-Agbor-Asaba Expressway were also engulfed in the fire which started about 6:30pm on Friday.
The gas plant, according to sources, is built within residential houses.
It was further gathered that tens of persons were who sustained different degrees of burnt were rushed to different hospitals in the area.

It was not not clear what led to the fire but sources alleged that a customer was reportedly refilling an empty gas cylinder when suddenly fire occurred.
One of the sources claimed one of person was burnt alive while several others who sustained similar burnt died at the hospital while waiting for treatment.
It was learnt that firefighters who were immediately drafted to the scene of the incident could not curtailed the raging inferno.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident but said it would be to ‘hasty’ to ascertain the number of casaulties.
“One person was burnt alive from the report available. Many persons were injured. It was a massive incident. Our men are going round the hospitals to know how many persons were injured. The gas plant was built around residential area and many houses were affected”, she stated.
