Kidnapping Kingpin Abducted By Another Gang, Secures Own Release After Paying N1.5m Ransom

It was a case of the hunting hunter getting hunted, for the leader of a kidnap gang, Mohammed Ahmadu, who was forced by another kidnap gang to pay for his release.

According to police force spokesperson, Frank Mba, disclosed this on Monday during a media parade in Abuja.

Ahmadu had gone to another kidnap gang’s hideout somewhere in the forest somewhere in the north-central region, to sell live ammunition, when he was abducted by the gang.

The 30-year-old gang leader was held captive and shot in the hand, until his gang members paid the ransom of N1.5 million for his freedom.

A total of 18 suspects were paraded for various offences, including armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and other violent crimes.

Among them was Abubakar Umaru, a.k.a Buba Bargu, who was allegedly the armourer of the gang that kidnapped Ahmadu.

According to force PRO Mba disclosed that lthe gang has carried out several kidnap for ransom operations along major highways in the northcentral region, especially the Lokoja-Abuja and Abuja-Kaduna highways.

Items retrieved from Umaru at his hideout include five AK-47 rifles, five magazines, and 120 rounds of AK-47 ammunition were recovered .
