Nine years after the gruesome killing of the former governorship candidate of the Citizens Peoples Party (CPP) in Delta State, Chief Ogbe Onokpite, the family on Monday protested to the Delta Judicial Panel investigating alleged police brutality to demand for justice for their slain brother.
Ogbe, then 38, was murdered by police operatives at Beeland Hotel, Orhuwhorun in Udu Local Government Area of the state in 2011.
He was, however, buried two years after he was killed.
However, observing a peaceful protest at the Governor’s Office Annex, Edjeba, Warri, on Monday, the Onokpite family said they were committed to ensuring that justice prevail over the gruesome killing of their son.
The Governor’s Office Annex is where the Delta Judiciary Panel of Inquiry on police brutality and extra-judicial killings is currently seating to receive complaints and petitions on police brutality and intimidation of citizens.
Speaking on behalf of the family during the peaceful protest, Mr. Victor Onokpite and Comrade Karo Erueme, said they were at the Judiciary Panel to further push for justice to the late Onokpite.

They vowed that the family will stop at nothing to ensure that justice is served on those took the life of the deceased politician.
They maintained that the family was still greatly devastated with his killing.
Also, the family lawyer, Eriata Odiana, said they are expecting a positive ruling from the Judiciary Panel on their case, adding that Onokpite’s must be prosecuted.
Odiana stressed that they were hoping the ruling of the police investigation into the killing of Late Ogbe Onokpite will be up hold and the police officers will be duly served justice.
He explained that the Judiciary Panel of Inquiry has shifted the hearing to Wednesday November 25, 2020.
