Nigeria Chartered Institute Of Transport Elects New National Working Committee


The Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA) has elected a new National Working Committee to pilot the affairs of the professional organization for two years.

CIOTA, established by an Act of the National Assembly, is saddled with the responsibility to advance the study, training and practice of transport management and administration in Nigeria regardless of specialization within the industry.

The Institute also sets standards of practice and determines the knowledge and skills to be attained by persons seeking to become registered members of the Institute and practice as a Chartered Transportant.

The new leadership were elected during the virtual General Conference of the Institute held between Saturday to Sunday.

The Conference also ratified the election of Dr. Bashir Y. Jamoh as National President, Darlington N. Ofor (1st Deputy President), Prof. Calistus C. Ibe (2nd Deputy National President) and  Dr. Oluropo Owolabi (National Vice President) who had earlier been elected as members of the National Working Committee of CIOTA.

However, in an online election conducted on Sunday, Hon. Chinda Evans Ogbuji emerged as CIOTA’s National Secretary; Dr. Afolabi JosephOluwaseyi             won the position of Asst. National Secretary while Capt. EleiIgbogi Green emerged winner for the position of National Financial Secretary.

Other winners are, Mrs. Ijeaku Onyewuego (National Auditor), Mrs. Chioma Azionu (National Treasurer), Mrs. Anyika Chizoba (National Publicity Secretary), Mr. Kenneth A. Ibiama (National Provost) and Mrs. Faleye S. Chukwunoye (National Auditor 2).

For the South-South region, Sotonye Inyeinengi-Etomi Esq. was emerged as the Chairman while the immediate past and pioneer Director General of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA), Mr. Stephen K. Dieseruvwe, was appointed as the Vice Chairman (South-South).
