COVID-19: Delta Relaxes Curfew (See New Curfew Time)

Delta State Government has announced relaxation of the state-wide curfew to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

The State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, who disclosed the adjustment of the curfew, noted that the new time is now 12 midnight to 4am.

He added that the adjustment is line with the directive of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19.

Delta currently ranked eight on the Nigeria’s COVID-19 chart with 1,780 confirmed cases. Of the number, 1,616 have recovered with 48 deaths recorded while 116 patients are currently undergoing treatment.

Aniagwu, who spoke at a news conference in Asaba, the state capital, restated the state government’s position to continue to flatten the COVID-19 curve in the state.

He thanked Deltans and residents for adhering to the preventive protocols to ensure that the virus was eliminated.

“We have made reasonable progress in the fight against the pandemic and we must thank our people for their cooperation and understanding while we continue to plead that the use of face masks is still very much compulsory.”

He said the state government will continue to remain transparent, open and accountable to the people towards COVID-19 donations just as it had published names of donors who assisted the state during the pandemic.
