The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 553 new cases of the COVID-19 in the country.
The number which is the highest first-ever recorded in a day in the country brings to 9855 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country.
NCDC in a tweet on its verified Twitter handle on Saturday stated that the 553 cases were recorded in 14 states and the FCT Abuja.
According to the figures, Lagos, FCT, Delta, Edo, Rivers, Ogun and Kaduna recorded the highest number of cases on Saturday.
The figures indicated that Lagos State which the nation’s epicenter in the pandemic recorded 378 cases. The highest the state has recorded a day.
Lagos was distantly followed by FCT which recorded new 52 cases, Delta State had 23 (highest recorded in a day), Edo got 22 additional cases and Rivers State recorded 14.
Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases have been witnessing hike in recent days after the Federal and State Governments relaxed the lockdown to contain the spread of the virus.
