Maikanti Baru, the immediate past Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), is dead.
He was aged 60.
The former NNPC GMD died on Friday night.
The GMD of the corporation, Mele Kyari, announced the demise of Baru on Saturday morning.
Kyari, who confirmed the development on his Twitter handle, described the late Baru as a brother, friend and mentor.

According to him, “My brother, my friend and my mentor, Dr. Kachalla Baru, immediate past GMD of NNPC died late last night.
“He was of exemplary character and disposition. May Allah forgive him and have mercy upon him” Kyari twitted.
