Kogi Records Two COVID-19 Index Cases, Nigeria’s Tally Hits 8733

Kogi State has recorded two index cases of the novel coronavirus, over three months after the first case, was reports in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this on Wednesday night while announcing 389 new cases of the pandemic.

NCDC said the country’s tally has now reached 8733 cases.

Kogi is among the two states – Cross River and Kogi – that had not recorded any case until Wednesday.

With this, Cross River remains the only state with zero cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.

According to the figures released through its verified Twitter handle, NCDC disclosed that the 389 cases were recorded in 22 states.

Lagos State recorded 256 of the 389 cases announced by the nation’s disease control body on Wednesday.

States of the Niger Delta including Edo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Delta recorded 22, 14, 11 and two cases each respectively.

According to the figures, “389 new cases of #COVID19; Lagos-256, Katsina-23, Edo-22, Rivers-14, Kano-13, Adamawa-11
Akwa Ibom-11, Kaduna-7, Kwara-6 and Nasarawa-6.

“Gombe-2, Plateau-2, Abia-2, Delta-2, Benue-2, Niger-2, Kogi-2, Oyo-2, Imo-1, Borno-1, Ogun-1, Anambra-1.

“8733 cases of #COVID19Nigeria. Discharged: 2501. Deaths: 254.”
