Nigeria’s COVID-19 Daily Cases Hit 381 As NCDC Confirms 22,492 Samples Tested


Confirmed cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria hit a new daily tally of 381 cases as 18 states of the country including Lagos recorded new cases on Thursday.

It’s the first time, Nigeria would be recording such a huge number of infected persons a day.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 601 patients have also been discharged from isolation centres after repeatedly testing negative to the virus.

The update on NCDC’ss website, indicated that most of the cases were from the northern states including Kano, Zamfara, Jigawa, Katsina, Borno and Kaduna.

In the Niger Delta region, Rivers and Akwa Ibom recorded fresh cases.

According to the figures released, Lagos which is the epicenter has recorded 1,491 confirmed cases while Kano had 482 cases.

NCDC added that 22,492 samples have been tested of which 3,526 were confirmed positive.

It stated that 34 states and the FCT Abuja so far have recorded confirmed cases. Cross River and Kogi State are the only states without cases.

“381 new cases of #COVID19; 183-Lagos, 55-Kano, 44-Jigawa, 19-Zamfara, 19-Bauchi, 11-Katsina, 9-Borno, 8-Kwara, 7-Kaduna, 6-Gombe, 5-Ogun, 4-Sokoto, 3-Oyo, 3-Rivers, 2-Niger, 1-Akwa Ibom, 1-Enugu and,1-Plateau.

“3526 cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. Discharged: 601. Deaths: 107”, it added.
