By Eseoghene Emuke

Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El Rufai, has described the minister of state for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, as a patriot whose actions are guided by public interest.

El Rufai said it was because of such patriotism that President Muhammadu Buhari loves the Delta –born Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) “like a son”.

The governor stated this on Sunday in a tweet in support of Keyamo over the recent face-off between the minister and members of the National Assembly over the planned employment of 774,000 jobless Nigerians.

Keyamo and the National Assembly joint committee on Labour were recently engaged in a scuffle over modalities for the implementation of the 774,000 jobs scheme designed for unemployed and vulnerable Nigerians by the Federal Government.

The lawmaker had during the brawl walked out the minister for allegedly raising voice on them.

But Keyamo told journalists that the lawmakers were attempting to hijack the scheme and vowed to ensure that ordinary Nigerians which the jobs were meant for benefit from the scheme directly.

He also further accused the National Assembly of attempting to bypass him in the implementation of the project.

Many Nigerians including celebrities have applauded the stance of Keyamo on the controversy.

However, El Rufai, in the tweet seems to be backing the position of the minister, said Keyamo had always be concerned for the voiceless Nigerians, reason he enjoy so much support from Mr President.

“@fkeyamo is a dedicated patriot. A good man whose directions, decisions & actions are guided by public interest & concern for the voiceless. That is why PMB loves him like a son! Remain steadfast my brother. – @elrufai”, the Kaduna governor tweeted.

El-Rufai became the first governor to have publicly supported the action of Keyamo against the position of the National Assembly joint committee on employment.
