A middle-aged man identified as Michael Unachi has been arrested for reportedly engaging in a gay act at Onuebonyi, Igbeagu Izzi local government area of Ebonyi state.
Unachi, 49, a native of Onunwakpu Igbeagu community, was arrested on 25th October 2021, at about 10am at Onuebonyi junction, Abakaliki, by operatives local vigilante group in the area.
It was gathered that a victim name withheld had reported the incident to the vigilante, after which he fled for fear of being attacked subsequently by Unachi as he has exposed him.
According to the report, the victim was lured by the suspect to his hut, where he made advances and succeeded in homosexuality.
Worried by such development in their area the vigilante moved into action, and the suspect was arrested. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the crime that he sexually assaulted the victim.
To avoid lynching the suspect, the vigilante handed the suspect over to police at CPS International Market alongside his statement, even as the vigilante promised to bring the victim to the station before the end of the day.
