Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday led the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, to meet with Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike in London, United Kingdom.
Some other PDP governors who attended the meeting included the governors of Oyo, Benue, Abia States – Seyi Makinde, Samuel Ortom and Okezie Ikpeazu.
Others also in the meeting included a former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, among others.
It was gathered that the meeting spearheaded by former President Obasanjo was to discuss alliance between Obi and some aggrieved PDP governors ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.
The meeting is coming barely 24 hours after the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, met with Governor Wike also in London.
There had been internal wrangling within the PDP since the emergence of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as the presidential candidate of the party for next year’s general elections.
Governor Wike had been romancing top chieftains of the APC including governors elected on the platform of the party.
The Rivers governor had also invited top chieftains of the APC to inaugurate projects in oil-rich state.
