The leading senatorial aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central, Delta State, Chief Ede Dafinone, has been unfolding his plans for the people of Delta Central if elected to succeed the Deputy President of the Senate, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege.

Dafinone, a renowned chartered accountant, said he will vigorously pursue the revamping of the two critical sea ports in Okwagbe and Sapele by the Federal Government to create jobs for constituents of Delta Central.

He spoke separately when he visited the leadership and delegates of APC in Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu local government areas of the state.

The intending lawmaker, who is the son of Senator David Dafinone, observed that though he was stepping on a big shoe by Senator Omo-Agege, he promised to build on the standard built by APC governorship aspirant in Delta State.

According to him, “the Senate is not for unprepared people. It is not a place for children, you must be educated and ready to serve your people. The man that must represent the Urhobo nation at the Senate, must be someone who has the experience and is competent.

“When PDP came to power in 1999, they had just one mission, and that is to empower themselves, but they failed to empower Deltans. Today, many of our people in a state are living in abject poverty.

“My senatorial bid will benefit all Urhobos. There are two critical sea ports in Delta Central – Okwagbe deep-sea port and Sapele sea port – I will use my contact and office to ensure that FG revamp them. By the time it’s revamped, it will create job opportunities for our people. I have done it abroad and at the national levels, I’m coming to do it.”

He appealed to the delegates to vote him during the primaries of the APC to fly the ticket of the party in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Speaking at the meeting, the chairman of APC in Ughelli North LGA, Mr. Obakpororo Onabeje, commended Dafinone for throwing his hart into the race to give Urhobo quality representation at the national level.

Onabeje, while describing Dafinone as a man full with the Urhobo spirit, hailed him as aspirant with huge intimidating credentials like his late father.

“He has that natural instinct in him which he inherited from the father. As a matter of fact, we will not disappoint you. The vacuum that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is about to leave is a very big one and we want somebody who is this competent, with this sound qualifications to represent us. On behalf of Ughelli North, we will give you the required support to go to Abuja to represent us.”

Also speaking, Udu APC chairman, David Orherhiobore, revealed that the Dafinone family is an awesome family that has globally brought honour to Urhobo Nation, adding that the days of thuggery were over in Delta Central.

“We need people who will intimidate the public with their CVs. As far as we are concerned, you are already in the Senate. We’ll give you our full support”, he said.
