A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Morrison Olori, says the opposition party has the brightest chances to win the 2023 presidential election if its national chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, resigns his position.

Chief Olori, a well-known businessman and politician, said Senator Ayu’s resignation will foster peace and unity which the PDP needs to crush the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming polls.

He, however, expressed surprise at the decision of the Appeal Court which upturned the ruling of an Abuja High Court which held that Olorogun David Edevbie was the governorship candidate of the party in Delta State.

The politician spoke to newsmen on Friday at his Ughelli residence in Delta State where he lamented that the Appeal Court did not look at the merits of the case before ruling to affirm the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, as the governorship candidate of the PDP.

Chief Olori posited that aside Ayu resigning as PDP national Chiarman in the interest of equity and justice,  he added that Ayu’s leadership has constantly been accused of corruption and supporting Illegality which has created disunity in the party.

Olori pointed out that Ayu’s interest after he was reportedly bribed was what had led to the disunity and factionalisation of the party in Delta.

According to him, PDP will lost the golden chance of returning to power if Senator Ayu remains as the national chairman of the party.

“Sen. Ayu should step down for our party to win. He should not disturb our party’s chances of winning the Election come 2023 because we have a bright chance.

“Sen. Ayu should understand that the way he came in, that is the same way he will go out. Prince Uche Secondus was shown the way out because of corruption and that is exactly what Sen. Ayu is doing.

“Please, Sen. Ayu, do not destroy our party, respect yourself and keep to your words – ‘I will resign if northern part of Nigeria  produce the presidential flag bearer’

“From all indications, Sen. Ayu is there to spoil our party’s chance of winning the election,

“I humbly call on Sen. Iyorchia Ayu to resign as the national chairman of our great PDP for equity and justice”, Olori, a senior chief in the Great Ughelli Kingdom, said.

On the crisis in Delta PDP, Chief Olori expressed optimism that the Supreme Court will give judgement in favour of Olorogun Edevbie and dismiss the ruling of the Appeal Court which gave judgement to Oborevwori.

Judiciary is the hope of a common man but for Nigeria is no more so.

That what I see in the case of Delta State PDP.

In that case, a lay man can give true judgement. By layman I mean a man appointed by Government or Military  to be a majestriat to precede in majestriat court. .

Hence I said a layman can deliver true judgement better than judges in appeal court of Nigeria whereas,

In just concluded appeal court, the judges turn their judgement upside down because of corruption.

Now these people  have not been in power and they are showing to Nigeria that corruption flow in there blood.

Of a truth, 90% of Nigerian problem can be solve by the judiciary. If the judiciary stands firm, then no politician will do things base on personal interest. For example, the case of Delta PDP Governorship, now everybody is laughing at Nigerian judiciary. Because if you look at it, that’s l no judgement.

“This is purely a matter of selling Delta State to APC by Gov. Okowa. The Appeal Court judgement  has given light APC to file their case with which they will take over Delta State. Take a good look at all the decisions taken, they are odd decisions.

“I am appealing to PDP faithful in Delta State to be patient, Supreme Court will do justice to the case and give judgement in favour of Olorogun Edevbie to be the next governor of Delta State. The Appeal Court judgement is just a temporary setback which the Apex court will correct”, he said.
