2023: Agbi Inaugurates NNPP Campaign Council, Unveils Blueprint For Delta

The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Delta State, Dr. Goodnews Agbi, has unveiled his campaign agenda for the development of the state as he officially commenced campaigns for the 2023 general elections.

Agbi in the manifesto document released on Monday said if elected as next governor of the state, his administration would focus on four key areas of infrastructure, health, education and security towards ensuring the greatness of all Deltans.

He spoke in Asaba, the state capital, while inaugurating a 239-member governorship campaign council of the party.

The university don said he was in the governorship race to win and charged his supporters to take his campaign document to every unit and ward across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Agbi promised to restore and reposition the state towards greatness where all citizens would maximize their potentials, enjoy dividends of democracy and live in peace, justice and unity.

He posited that he will defeat both candidates of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Sheriff and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The NNPP gubernatorial candidate further stated that both parties which are his major rivals have nothing to offer the people of the state, and appealed to the electorate to judiciously use their PVCs in next year’s election.

 While stating that his administration will run a transparent government, he emphasised that his government will account for every kobo that will come to the state.

“We are here to challenge the status quo. We are in the election to challenge the All Progressive Congress and the People’s Democratic Party. The only challenge we have is that our pocket is not fat as theirs.”

“They know we are doing something great, the opposition are already panicking with the current trends from us and we will not relent, until we take over Delta State from the present occupant”, Agbi stated.

While reeling out his campaign agenda for a greater Delta State, the academician explained that, “In our campaign manifesto, we have four cardinal points which are HEALTH, EDUCATION, SECURITY and INFRASTRUCTURE.

“These four shall form the fulcrum, the foundation on which our government shall be based. A blueprint has been developed and will soon be distributed across the State.However, we can summarize them as follows:

“Health, is so important to the common man. In health, every pregnant woman from six months to when the baby is 5 years, government take care of the medical care this includes all nursing mothers who will be given free healthcare as well as the establishment of more cottage hospitals across the state.

“Education will be made accessible to all qualified Deltans especially the children of the poor, so that they can equally compete with others in other States in Nigeria. We will improve on our education system by standardizing our schools and institutions. We will also encourage private universities to be established in the State as well, while we will academically strengthen the existing Institutions.

“Security will be given serious attention because of its sensitive nature and importance. We would improve on its present state by ensuring that Delta State has a security outfit that will be upgraded from civilian to police standard in the State and advocate and join other governors to seek approval for State police.”

“We would also improve on existing infrastructures. For the first year the existing roads will be maintained continuously throughout my regime. There will be embargo on new roads and, that every money during my government will be accounted for.

Agbi charged members of the campaign council headed by its Director-General, Olorogun Edward Ofomana and party faithful to vigorously campaign for NNPP’s victory at all level during the forthcoming polls.

He stated that NNPP was open and ready to work and form alliance with other small political parties to strengthen the chances of the party, adding “I am appealing to Deltans to massively vote for me.”

In his acceptance speech, the State Secretary of the Party, Olorogun Ofomana, who was inaugurated as Director General of the State Campaign Council, expressed the readiness of the party to take over government in 2023.

He also tasked Party members to go out and canvass supports for all candidates of the party vying for various elective positions across the state and in at the federal level.
